Can I purchase just one font for one computer?

Answer:

SINGLE FONT?
Single fonts are rarely enough, since the principle of Sassoon fonts is to bridge the gap between reading and handwriting, different fonts are required for this progressive approach.

Recognising that Teachers may need guidance in the choice of fonts, we have helpfully compiled fonts that we recommend for different activities into packages suiting either reading activities, handwriting activities or both.

For example, the best value package that contains 'Sassoon Infant Regular' font;
S180 'Sassoon Basic Pack'

4 fonts which represent good value compared to purchasing a single font from another source. Please remember that our font format is the latest 'OpenType' format, which makes it easiest in OpenType compatible applications like Word 2010 to use the fonts and access the many
Sassoon alternative letters

As the originators of the fonts, our website and technical support service is totally committed to offering the best advice for usage and selection of Sassoon fonts.

There are of course other Authorised Vendors of Sassoon fonts where a single font can be purchased. Beware of the format if purchasing these. Cheaper prices indicate an old font format, usually TrueType, that may not have any alternative letters. Some Vendors charge for a separate 'Alternatives' font. For example, they may offer the OpenType font (which has alternative letters) at a higher price, such as €35 per font. The cheaper standard OpenType or TrueType font at €29 may not have any alternative letters. This may of course not matter to you, but is a unique feature of Sassoon fonts. Teachers need a selection of alternatives to suit their school handwriting policy preferences.

There are several Authorised Vendors licensed to sell single fonts.
Visit any of these websites and search for 'Sassoon':

If your wish is to ensure a Commercial Printer has the same font as yours to print your documents, please note - Even Authorised Vendors of Sassoon fonts have different versions. A 'Bold' from one may not be the same as the Bold from another because it has a slightly different name or internal ID which means it will not be recognised by your documents. So if you have a Bold font (from one source) it is always the best idea to purchase from the same source if you want your Printer to have a compatible font. If you purchased the original font from us, see 'Extended Licence' below for details.

SINGLE COMPUTER?
The administration involved in issuing a licence each time another computer requires a font increases the cost, as most Users have two computers or will obtain them in future. Offering a minimum licence of 5 computers removes the need for Users to inform Vendors of fonts each time a font is installed on another computer. This has become the industry standard for licensing fonts. The licence stipulates that the total computers that have the font installed is no greater than the number of computers licensed (purchased) for a single site.

EXTENDED LICENCE?
EXAMPLE 1: To cover more computers (CPUs) than the original licence, for a single User, the Licence may be extended. See 'ESLF' section here...
Extended Service Licence Agreement (ESLF)

EXAMPLE 2: If you purchased a Bold font from us and you need the font so that a Printer can open your documents, you can simply extend your existing licence to include a Commercial Printer by paying 50% of the original cost for absolute certainty the font is compatible with yours. To do this, pay the 'Service Licence Fee' by completing the form and enter the Printer's email address along with payment amount here in the Add to cart field.

On receipt of payment the version of the fonts originally purchased will be emailed to the Printer.

NOTE: The End User Licence Agreement allows for another copy of the font to be stored and/or installed off-site strictly for back-up purposes.

HOME & SCHOOL?
An often asked question is "If I purchase the font myself for use at home, can I install the font at my school?". The answer is NO. The licence is personal to the purchaser and distributing the font in any way to a third party is in breach of the licence. If the school wants to use the font, it must purchase a licence of its own. Conversley, if the school purchases a font, it cannot be distributed to a third party for use at home. That individual must purchase their own licence.

ADDITIONAL LICENCE?
If fonts are required on more CPUs than was origianlly purchased, an 'Extended End User Licence' can be can be purchased to cover the extra CPUs. Many other additional licences can also be purchased which deal with PDFs, Web use, Multiple sites etc. For complete details of all licence types see the

Licence Fee payment page

LAPTOP?
A common Laptop question is "can I install the font on another computer at a different site?". The answer is, a laptop licensed to (the same) single User can be used at another site, providing it is not Networked to other computers at the other site. It is effectively one of the 5 licensed computers if it is still in your possession and controlled by you.
